Position Overview:
We are hiring a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead a Special Day Class (SDC) for students with Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) in Antioch, CA. In this role, you will deliver individualized instruction, provide behavioral and academic support, and cultivate a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Provide instruction aligned with Common Core Standards in a self-contained classroom
- Utilize evidence-based instructional methods and positive behavioral strategies
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, service providers, and paraeducators
- Track and analyze student progress to drive instructional decisions
- Lead IEP meetings and maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws
- Build and maintain an inclusive classroom culture that supports emotional and academic growth
- Maintain consistent communication with families to strengthen school-home partnerships
Qualifications – Required:
- Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or MMSN)
- CLAD or English Learner Authorization
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Special Education
- Experience teaching in self-contained SDC settings
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans and assistive technology tools
